Janice K. Thompson – age 70, of Rockwell City, formerly of Pomeroy, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Janice Kay Mefferd was born January 9, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jack and Virginia (Blanchard) Mefferd. In 1969, Janice graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Janice was united in marriage to Roger Thompson, together they had five children, Samuel, Rick, Angel, Dustin and Keith. Janice was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She had a beautiful smile and an amazing sense of humor.

Janice's hobbies included cooking & baking, drawing, writing, singing karaoke, drinking diet coke, playing card games, making homemade pizza and spending time with her family.

Survivors include Janice's children, Samuel Thompson of Des Moines, Angel (Lloyd) Nicholson of Alexander, Dustin (Kristin) Thompson of Pomeroy and Keith (Amanda) Thompson of Schaller; grandchildren, Dawn Nicholson, Ella, Kaylee and Beau Thompson, Gracelyn, Tierney and Lance Thompson, Andrew Phillips and Jasmine and Hailey Thompson; great-granddaughter, Alaya Joy Phillips; brothers, Jack (Jean) Mefferd of Arizona and Jeff Mefferd of Grimes and sisters, Deb Thompson of Des Moines and Barb Bayse of Pomeroy.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Thompson; granddaughter, Anne Thompson; brothers, David, Dennis and Samuel Mefferd and sisters, Karen Aeschliman and Lynette Vetter.
