Jay A. Miller – age 71, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his home in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Jay Alan Miller was born on September 1, 1950, in Pocahontas, Iowa. He was the son of Vincent and Lorna (Hodgell) Miller. He attended Pocahontas High School. Jay enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from 1969 - 1971. Following his military service, Jay returned to Pocahontas. He worked at the elevator in Ware and Laurens. On November 26, 1977, Jay was united in marriage to Pam Schwalbe in Mound, Minnesota. The couple lived in Mound, MN for several years where Jay worked for Nordic Ware. In 1985, they moved to Pocahontas where Jay worked as a janitor at the Pocahontas Community Schools. He then worked at Jack Links in Laurens and then in Council Bluffs, retiring in 2012 as warehouse supervisor. In 2015, Jay and Pam returned to Pocahontas.

Jay was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Pocahontas American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and especially loved spending time with and tormenting his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Pam of Pocahontas; sons, John (ShanonLeigh) Miller of Pocahontas, Ehren (Tessa) Miller of Fort Dodge and Travis (Carrie) Miller of Pocahontas; 9 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alice (Jim) Schuneman of Grand Island, NE, Joe (Barb) Miller of Fort Dodge, Darius (Jackie) Miller of Rockwell City, Joyce (Bob) Ahlers of Laurens and Missy (Dean) Zuetlau of Pocahontas.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Miller and Kelvin Miller.
