Jayne E. Burnett – age 75, of Laurens, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Jayne Eileen Black was born June 4, 1945, in Algona, Iowa. She was the daughter of Stanley and Harriet (Schrader) Black. She attended school at Burt Community School in Burt, Iowa, graduating in 1963. On May 29, 1965, Jayne was united in marriage to Bertrand Eugene Pedersen. They had 2 children, Tina and Troy. They made their home in Humboldt, where Jayne ran the Korner Kitchen Kafe for a few years and also worked for other various restaurants in the Humboldt area. They then relocated to Pocahontas, where she ran the Big Red Drive-In for a few years while also working at other restaurants. Jayne worked for Fisher Hydraulics for many years and also cleaned houses in the area. Jayne then married John Burnett of Eugene, Oregon, and the couple made their home near Laurens, Iowa, where they bought and maintained a farm and grew a large garden.

Jayne loved her animals, especially her cats. She also had Saint Bernards, donkeys, ducks and geese. Due to health issues, Jayne and John retired and moved to Laurens and later moved to the Pleasant View Care Center in Albert City.

Survivors include her husband, John; children, Tina (Terry) Cohoon of Little Rock and Troy Pedersen of Sioux Rapids; grandchildren, David (Natasha) Holtzclaw of Burnsville, MN, Deanna Cohoon of Laurens, Dustin Hawthorne of Pocahontas, Tyler Pedersen of Pocahontas and Jayne Cohoon of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, KaLiena Holtzclaw, Kiel Holtzclaw, Remington Sefick and KesLeigh Holtzclaw and sister, Marlene Gifford of Burt.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet and Stanley Black; step-mom, Beulah Black; sisters, Delores Frazen and Mary Helen St. John and brother, Gary Black.
