Jerry L. Howland – age 87, of Rolfe, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Gerald L. Howland was born August 18, 1934, in Rolfe, Iowa. He was the son of William and Hazel (Birch) Howland. Jerry graduated from the Rolfe High School in 1952. Following graduation, he attended Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge for one year. Jerry worked at Don's DX Station in Rolfe, where he did service work and pumped gas. In 1955, Jerry married Earla Meier in Blue Earth, Minnesota. The couple lived in Rolfe, where Jerry worked in Humboldt making concrete products for several years. He then drove stock truck for Iowa Sand and Gravel, until moving to California for 7 years, where Jerry managed the wrecking yard for S&K Auto. In 1964, he returned to Rolfe. Jerry worked in Laurens at Mefferd Industries, then Gold Star as a saw man until retiring in 1995.

Jerry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He loved fishing in the area and did fishing trips to Minnesota. He enjoyed doing large puzzles, feeding birds, and watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include his daughter, Tammy McGruder of Rolfe and two grandchildren, Jeremiah Howland of Des Moines and Jacey Braunschweig of Laurens.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Howland; brothers, Don Howland and Roger Howland and sister, Marcella Yabsley.
