Jim A. Richardson – age 81, of Laurens, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Mill Pond Retirement Home in Ankeny, Iowa.

James Alfred Richardson was born October 4, 1940 near Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of William and Myrna (Dershem) Richardson. Jim attended the Laurens High School. Following his education, he began work at Bussey's Welding in Laurens. After his time at Bussey's, he worked at Mefferd Industries, then Twin Draulics in Laurens, while helping at a ranch in South Dakota. On March 6, 1964, Jim was united in marriage to Sharon Eubank at the First Christian Church in Laurens. The couple settled in Laurens. Jim went on to work for M. & J. R. Hakes as a truck driver, then as a forklift specialist where he worked for 34 years until his retirement in 1999. Sharon passed away in 2016 and Jim moved to Mill Pond Retirement Home in Ankeny.

Jim was a member of the First Christian Church and the Teamsters. Jim had a love for racing, from watching the races to helping Jeff with his own racecar. He loved his dogs, having cared for many over the years.

Survivors include his children, Mike (Linda) Richardson of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Jeff Richardson of Boone and Melissa (Mike) Gocke of Pleasantville; two grandchildren; a brother, Keith Richardson of Indiana and sisters, Janice Schultz of Laurens and Carol Wetherell of Cherokee.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; pups, Katy and Jack and grandpups, Keysha, Raven, Hank and Chewie.
