Jimmie W. Chavez – age 62, of Laurens, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

James William Chavez was born on May 11, 1959, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of Jose and Mary (Stinson) Chavez. He was educated in Chicago schools. Following his education, Jimmie worked in Chicago for the Sun-Times in their Circulation Department. In 1999, he moved to Laurens where he worked as a welder for Bobalee Hydraulics, Fisher Hydraulics, then Pengo. Jimmie recently retired from Pengo after 16 years of service.

Jimmie enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching the Bears and Cubs. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids and watching their activities.

Jimmie is survived by his children, David Chavez of Mundelein, IL, Carol (Ryan) Rowe of Lake Park, IA, Chris Catala of Waterloo, IA, Christina (Robert) Donahoo of Peterson, IA and Sarah (Jeff) Vial of Pocahontas, IA; life partner, Vicky Paterson of Laurens, IA; 10 grandchildren and siblings, Evelyn Landin, Terry Chavez, Trey Chavez, Joey Chavez, Carolyn Chavez, Marty Chavez, Richie Chavez, Michael Chavez, Angie Chavez and Angelo Chavez.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ricky Stinson and Pedro Chavez.
