John C. Havlik– age 77, of Gilmore City, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
John Charles Havlik was born October 31, 1941, near Palmer, Iowa. He was the son of William and Laura (Zech) Havlik. He graduated from the Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1961. On June 6, 1970, John was united in marriage with Linda Porter. The couple lived on a farm near Gilmore City for several years before moving into Gilmore City. John worked as a rock truck operator for P & M Stone in Humboldt, Giese Construction in Eagle Grove and then for Martin Marietta in Gilmore City, retiring in 2003. In 2015, John moved to Fort Dodge.
John was a member of the St. John Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved Polka music and in his younger years, dancing. He also enjoyed tinkering on various projects and socializing, especially about the "old days". He had a great sense of humor and was known as a hard worker.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Ames; sons, Bruce (Jane) Havlik of Johnston and Patrick (Michele) Havlik of Ames; grandchildren, Lauren and Logan; brothers, William (Alice) Havlik of Fort Dodge and Donald (Linda) Havlik of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Patricia Williams of Fort Dodge and brother-in-law, Robert Supp of Los Altos, CA. John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marian Supp and Monica Rink.
