John G. Lantz - age 89, of Pomeroy, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Center in Manson, Iowa.

John Gustav Lantz was born on June 6, 1930, in Pomeroy, Iowa. He was the son of Erick and Gunhild (Larson) Lantz. He graduated from Pomeroy High School on May 24, 1950. He then worked as custodian at the Pomeroy Schools. On August 7, 1959, John was united in marriage to Donna Lou Johnson at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron. The couple settled in Pomeroy. In 1992, John retired from the school after 42 years of service. Donna passed away in 2004 and John continued to make his home in Pomeroy.

John was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. He enjoyed playing town baseball, fishing, crocheting, gardening, volunteering at the Iowa Arboretum, putting puzzles together, traveling and serving pancakes. He especially enjoyed attending his grandson, Andrew's activities, watching the Chicago Cubs and attending Iowa Cubs baseball games.

Survivors include his daughters, Annette (Curtis) Stern of Schaller; Lynette Lantz of Boone and Kevin Lantz of Boone; a grandson, Andrew Stern of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Ruth Lantz of Pomeroy; brother-in-law, Roger Hunt of Pocahontas and several nieces & nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; brother, Harold Lantz and sister, Anna Lantz
