James "Joker" Shimon – age 74, of Pocahontas, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at his home in Pocahontas, Iowa.

James Paul Shimon was born November 13, 1944, on a farm five miles west of Rolfe, Iowa. He was the son of Leslie and Vivian (Callon) Shimon. He was educated in the Rolfe school system. After the eighth grade, he stayed home to work on the farm and raised livestock in the Rolfe area. Joker then began trucking working for various trucking companies in the area over the years.

Joker loved spending time at the casino.

Survivors include his brother, George (Kathy) Shimon of Rolfe and Jon Shimon of Livermore California; sisters, Donna (Jerry) Halder of Pocahontas and Linda (Julian) Leon of Dallas, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ardoth Shimon, Bonnie Coon, Carol Jensen, Janet Gustafson and Judy Coon and one brother, Jerry Shimon.
