Jon K. Anderson, age 82, of Rolfe, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Jon Kent Anderson was born October 28, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Clifford and Beryl (Rathjen) Anderson. Jon graduated from the Pocahontas High School in 1958. After graduation, he moved to Arizona where he worked for First National Bank. Jon then entered the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1965. He returned to Pocahontas following his military honorable discharge and joined the family business, Anderson Farm Equipment. Jon had his first movie date with Nancy Pechan when they were 14. On June 10, 1967, they were united in marriage at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pocahontas. The couple settled on the farm Nancy was raised on near Rolfe where they raised their family. Jon continued to work for Anderson Equipment until his father's retirement, upon which Jon and his brother, Doug, purchased the business. In 2002, they sold the business. Jon retired that same year, ending a 35+ year career at Anderson Equipment.

Jon was a member the V.F.W., where he served as Commander for many years. As a member of the VFW he was honored to put the flags up each Memorial Day on the courthouse lawn. He was also a member of the American Legion, AMVETS and the NRA. He enjoyed golfing, bird watching, collecting Allis-Chalmers tractors, gardening and tending to his cats. Jon loved storytelling and talking to people, and was very patriotic. His biggest joy was his family, having followed many of his grandkid's activities over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Rolfe; son, David Jon Anderson of Fort Dodge; daughter, Sally Kay (Erik) Whitney of Boone; grandchildren, Kayla Rose Peterson, Lisa Kay Peterson, Mathew Jon Anderson and Maggie Erika Kay Whitney, and a brother, Doug Anderson of Pocahontas.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Beryl; sister-in-law, Lani Anderson and a nephew, Jay Anderson. And his beloved cat Yoda.
