Joseph "Joey" Perez, age 50, of Laurens, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home in Laurens, Iowa. A private family visitation was held and no services are planned at this time.

Joseph William Perez was born on November 8, 1975, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Noe and Connie (Sly) Perez. Joey graduated from Monmouth High School in Monmouth, Illinois and continued his education at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. He graduated with his certification as a CNA and worked as a CNA for several years. On November 1, 2008, Joey was united in marriage to Heather in Fort Madison, Iowa. The couple settled in Laurens where they raised their family and Joey worked for BOBALEE Hydraulics as a machinist.

Joey's hobbies included reading James Patterson and Stephen King, building models, spending time with family, fishing, drawing, his dog Brahma, and enjoyed anything Horror.

Survivors include his spouse, Heather Perez of Albert City, IA; children, Jaqulynn (Gary) Gronwoldt of Burlington, IA, Taylor Perez of Monmouth, IL, Brianna (Lucky) Rawlings of Burlington, IA, Cheyenne Lee of Albert City, IA, Kenneth Lee of Dallas, TX and Arkansas Perez of Laurens, IA; 7 grandchildren; mother, Connie Perez of Fort Madison, IA; sibling, Lori Perez of Fort Madison, IA and nephew, Christopher Perez of Fort Madison, IA.

Joey was preceded in death by his father, Noe Perez.
