Joyce J. Marron, age 90, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa, from complications after a short illness.

Joyce Joanne Fokken was born on October 6, 1932, in Mallard, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Lena (Ahlrichs) Fokken. She graduated from Mallard High School in 1951. On August 2, 1958, Joyce was united in marriage to John Marron in Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple settled in Pocahontas. Joyce was a homemaker until 1965, when she began working as secretary at the Pocahontas High School, until she retired in the early 1990's. John passed away in 1994 and Joyce continued to make her home in Pocahontas.

Joyce was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Ladies Society. She was an avid quilter and loved to play cards and golf. She enjoyed the yearly family vacation at Fillenwarth Beach Resort in Okoboji. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known as Gram or Grandma Great.

Survivors include her children, Jolene (Rick) Hotovec of Storm Lake and Jeanne (Greg) Vogel of Paullina; grandchildren, Chad (Staci) Hotovec, Emily (Garret) Fickbohm, Jay (Monique) Vogel, Kate (Mike) Ginsberg and Kristen (Brice) Beal; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, John Fokken of Irwin; sister, Marion Clark of Storm Lake and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John and brothers, Paul, Gary and Gene Fokken.
