Julia M. Hersom - age 93, of Pomeroy, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Center in Manson, Iowa.

Julia Mae Roese was born on February 4, 1926, in Pomeroy, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Grace (Doyen) Roese. She graduated from Pomeroy High School and went on to attend Wartburg College in Waverly. Julia worked in Pomeroy at the Creamery and at Cain's Café. On September 21, 1958, Julia was united in marriage to Robert Hersom at the St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. The couple settled on the family farm west of Fonda. They were blessed with one son, Keith, who farmed with his father. In 1993, Julia and Robert moved into Pomeroy. Keith passed away in July of 2006. Robert passed away in January of 2012. Julia continued to live in Pomeroy until moving to Arlington Place in Pocahontas where she resided until August of 2018 when she moved to the Manson Good Samaritan Center.

Julia was a lifetime member of the St. John Lutheran Church where she was active in the Women of the ELCA and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed baking and was known for her peanut butter cookies. Most of all, Julia loved the time she spent with her grandsons.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, LeAnne (Milo) Wernimont of Pomeroy; grandsons, Kyle Hersom of Pomeroy; Brandon (Ashley) Hersom of Alta; Tyler Hersom and Jared Hersom both of Pomeroy; two step-grandchildren, Marshall Wernimont and Megan Wernimont; niece, Myrna King of Pomeroy; nephew, Rodney Nelson of Pomeroy; great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Keith; brother, Paul Roese and sister, Eleanor Harrold.
