Kandace L. Schnell – age 66, of Sac City, formerly of Pomeroy, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.

Kandace Louise Schnell was born on June 14, 1956 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the daughter of Louis and Mildred (Anderson) Schnell. She grew up on a farm near Jolley, Iowa and attended Sherman School and Manson Public Schools. She worked at the Recycling Howard Activity Center in Sac City and later moved to the Howard Center group home in Sac City.

Kandace was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her roommates and especially loved her home and the loving staff. She also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, wearing only their t-shirts for years and anything "Army" which made her brother-in-law, Tom, an Army veteran, feel special. Kandace loved her pony "Chico" and also enjoyed cowboys and Indians, especially the TV show, Bonanza. She loved being teased and teasing her family as well. Kandace spent many years going to Minneapolis to spend birthdays and Christmas with her family. Her sister, Karla, enjoyed making her time special, visiting family and going to see "Grease" at the Chanhassen Theater. Going out to eat was always a treat with her sister and riding in the convertible with the top down singing to the "Beach Boys" and "Johnny Cash".

Survivors include her sister, Karla (Thomas) Stevenson of Fridley, MN; niece, Kari (Steve) Hanson; nephew, Mark (Emily) Stevenson; 3 great nieces and a great nephew, Baylee, Everlee, William and Ashlee Stevenson. Kandace was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mildred.

There is not enough praise and thank you's for all who worked with Kandace at the Howard Activity Center and her group home. You all are truly angels here on earth. Kandace joins her grandparents and parents in heaven. Their selfless love and support were heroic, true pioneers in improving the quality of life for the mentally disabled.

A special thank you to Pastor Zimmerman for his visits, although challenging, Kandace knew and heard his messages and prayers. And to his contacting Pastor Kroonblawd of Sac City to provide comfort to Kandace and to all of us surrounding her at her time of death.
