Karen Marie Kerns, age 81, of Omaha, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on August 17th, 2020 surrounded by family after living a full and beautiful life. She was born August, 6th 1939 to Chester and Daisy (Cirks) Truelsen in Rolfe, Iowa. She graduated from DMT School. On March 1, 1959 she married the love of her life, Curtis B. Kerns. They created a loving haven to raise their 4 children in rural Rolfe. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After high school, Karen was a dental assistant in Rolfe. She partnered with her husband in farming, raising hogs and breeding and raising ponies and horses. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. She served for decades at St. Paul's Lutheran Church as superintendent of the Sunday school and as a leader with the youth group. She spent countless hours volunteering in the community including many years as a 4-H leader. Karen supported several youth organizations. After her husband's death, Karen enjoyed serving as the librarian at the Rolfe Library. She was a member of Faith Community Church in rural Palmer, IA.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Lori) Kerns, Zachary, Sarah, Joshua and Jonathan, Rolfe, IA; daughter, Kathy (Tim) Garvey, Kylie, Kim, Reagan, and Ryan, Omaha, NE; daughter, Kim (Morgan) Forness, Mikayla, Miriah, and Lauren, West Fargo, ND; son, Kelley (Michelle) Kerns, Zachary, Kasen and Brennen, St. Joseph, MI. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Curt; brother, Kenneth, and parents.
