Kenneth Wayne Theesfeld – age 84, of Pocahontas, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at his daughter, Karla's home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Ken was born June 8, 1936 on the family farm east of Fonda, Iowa. He was the son of George and Martha (Gottschalk) Theesfeld. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He attended country schools and graduated from Pomeroy High School. Ken married his sweetheart, Karen K. Nelson, on August 31, 1957 in Manson, Iowa. The event filled year of 1960 included his graduation from the University of Iowa with a Degree in Business, the birth of their daughter, Karla and a move to California. After working for several years for Hughes Aircraft and the birth of their son, Ken Jr. they returned to the Midwest in 1964. Farming in Windom, MN eventually led to them settling on the family farm near Fonda, Iowa in 1969 to raise their two children. Ken's heart felt desire unfolded as he spent the rest of his working years farming. While farming, he served his community by sitting on the Pomeroy Elevator Board, the Soil and Water Board, and Immanuel Lutheran Church Board often as the Chairman.

Ken enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He received his pilot license in 1978, played his guitar at Care Centers, hunted, collected Indian artifacts, biked, and traveled. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. His love of outdoor adventures continues to flow through the veins of his lineage.

Survivors include his daughter, Karla (Drexel) Pope Jr; grandsons, Brandon Lutz, Kellan (Brittany) Lutz, David Pope, Daniel Pope, and Grant Theesfeld; step-grandsons, Drexel (Katie) Pope and children and James Pope; siblings, Belva Edmonds, Joyce Derham, Sharon Brown, George (Mary) Theesfeld, Bruce Theesfeld and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen; son, Ken Jr; sister, Delores Hart; sister-in-law, Judy (Hout) Theesfeld; brother-in-laws, Al Hart, William Brown, Roger Edmonds, Don Derham, and nieces, Debbie Edmonds and Melinda Brown Fulmer.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held later in the spring at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He will be buried next his wife, Karen and son, Ken Jr. at the Pomeroy Union Cemetery.
