Kermitt J. Shimon – age 89, of Rolfe, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the West Bend Care Center in West Bend, Iowa.

Kermitt James Shimon was born on March 26, 1931, near Pocahontas, Iowa.  He was the son of Joseph and Opal (Long) Shimon. He attended country school and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1949. On May 15, 1954, Kermitt was united in marriage to Marilyn Nielsen at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Rolfe, Iowa. The couple settled on the family farm near Rolfe where they farmed and raised their family. In 1991, Kermitt retired from farming and in 1992, Kermitt and Marilyn moved into Rolfe.

Kermitt was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and a former member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Rolfe.   He was also a member of the Lions club and served on the Rolfe School Board. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Shimon of Rolfe; daughter, Bridget (Kirby) Cruickshank of Cameron, MO; son, Jim (Tammy) Shimon of Rolfe; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Kermitt was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Opal Shimon; step-father, H.B. Eike; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jerry Traub and son, Joe Shimon.

In lieu of flowers Kermitt's family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
