LaVonne "Bonnie" Watters, age 89, of Lake City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar, IA.  LaVonne Emma was born on January 2, 1937, to parents Henry and Minnie (Rostermundt) Lohmeier in Manning, IA.  Bonnie graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1955, and continued her education at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO, graduating in 1959.

On August 3, 1958, Bonnie was united in marriage to Reginald Watters at the Manning Methodist Church.  This union was blessed with two children: Sherri and Todd.  Together they raised their family in Lake City, where Bonnie was a teacher for 3rd, 5th, and remedial Math.  She retired in 1998.  She was also a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church and taught Sunday school for several years, and a member of the Monday Club.  Bonnie will be remembered for her incredible cooking and baking.  She loved making huge meals and spoiling her grandsons.  She valued her time spent with her kids and grandchildren and being the best grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Sherri (Ted) Hjelmeland of Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren: Jeremy (Yulia) Hjelmeland of Waxahachie, TX, and Kyle Hjelmeland of St. Ansgar, IA; In-laws: Marilyn Lohmeier, Dennis (Bonnie) Watters, Terry (Bev) Watters, Jeanette Watters; other extended family members and many friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Watters; son, Todd Watters; parents; and siblings: Velma Weber, Ray Lohmeier, Willis Lohmeier, Amos Lohmeier, Alvin Lohmeier, Bernice Hobbs, and Ruby Rose; niece, Wanda Bolten.

Bonnie's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, Iowa. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery after the funeral. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, Iowa.
