Leonard Kelso, age 69 of Lake City, IA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 13, 2023.  Leonard Dean was born on August 2, 1954, to parents Herald and Clara (Akre) Kelso.  He grew up in Emmetsburg, IA, and he graduated from Prairie Community High School in Gowrie, IA.  He was a high school football star, rode bulls, and loved to hunt.

On November 19, 2004, Leonard was united in marriage to Lori.  This union combined their families and were blessed with five children: Corey, Dustin, Lissa, Stephanie, and Amber.  In his younger years, Leonard worked for Iowa Beef-Hormel in Fort Dodge, IA.  He then worked for 21 years at USG in Fort Dodge.  Leonard was the family rock.  He was very loving, caring, and generous and had a heart of gold.  Most of all, he cherished his time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Lori Kelso of Lake City, IA; children: Corey Kelso of Mesa, AZ, Dustin Kelso of Pensacola, FL, Lissa (Jake) Lehman of Fort Dodge, IA, Stephanie (Nickolas) Wilson of Fort Dodge, IA, and Amber (Kolby) McLoed of Vail, IA; grandchildren: Corin and Quinley Kelso, Lexa, Kaylee, and Kinzley Wilson, Ryan and Adalyn McLoed, and Jordan Harris; sister Betty Black of WI; niece Jeanna (Colby); Nephews: Steven (Tyci), Billy (Cassidy), David (Angel), Mikeal (Sarah); other extended family members and many friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Clifford and Ronald Kelso.
