Leonard K. Olson - age 66, of Pocahontas, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Leonard Kermit Olson was born March 9, 1953, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Elmo and Annie (Morland) Olson. He graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1971 and went on to Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Leonard moved to Colorado and was co-owner of a health Insurance Company called Worthington-Olson. In the mid 1990's, Leonard returned to Pomeroy where he continued to be active with Worthington-Olson. Leonard also owned and operated the Palmer Kaleidoscope and Gavel Manufacturing
Company located in Palmer. In 2004, he moved his business to Pomeroy and in 2006, he retired from the insurance business. In 2014, Leonard moved the Kaleidoscope Factory, to Pocahontas.

Leonard was a member of the MENSA organization and the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed making kaleidoscopes, starting new projects, helping with the centennial celebration, the art walk and helping at the Rialto Theater. Leonard thoroughly enjoyed visiting everybody and having coffee with his lady friends.

Survivors include his sisters, Lois (Richard) Hessenius of Lemars, IA and Margaret (Paul) Egli of Manson, IA; three nephews; four great nieces; two great nephews; special friend, Patty Mefferd of Pocahontas and family friends, Sandy, Kolbe and Kenzie Rutherford. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and a great niece.
