Leonard J. Schnetter, age 80, of Pocahontas, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Leonard James Schnetter was born on August 21, 1943, on a farm near Varina, Iowa.  He was the son of Nicholas and Lillian (Aigner) Schnetter. Leonard attended the Iowa School for the Deaf. He then returned to the farm near Varina and later moved to Pocahontas. Leonard began working for Elmer Rosenberger and later for Pocahontas County Conservation. In July of 1994, Leonard was united in marriage to Debra Dingman in Pocahontas. The couple settled in Pocahontas. Leonard continued to work for Pocahontas County Conservation until his retirement in 1996.

Leonard enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, yard work and driving.

Survivors include his wife, Debra of Pocahontas; sister, Lucille Gamble of Pocahontas; brother, James (Vicki) Schnetter of Tucson, AZ; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Dennis and Edward Schnetter; sisters, Darlene Pruter and Kathleen Schnetter at 2 ½ years old, and a niece, Stephanie Gamble.
