Auburn – Lillian Nolte, 96, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Accura Healthcare of Manning. Honoring her wishes, her body has been donated to Des Moines University and burial will take place at a later date.  Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City is assisting the family.

Lillian Mae Nolte was born on May 13, 1925, in rural Audubon, Iowa, to William and Lizzie (Jurgens) Asmus.  She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manning.  Lillian was married to Darrell Darnell for 43 years until his sudden death.  She then moved to Manning as her mother was in Carroll Health Center.  She married Mike Nolte in 1988 and they lived in SE Sac County.  Mike passed away in 2013 after a short illness.

Lillian is survived by her step-children John (Wanda) Gibson of Lake View, Cindy (David) Tiefenthaler of Auburn, Marty (Faith) Nolte of Pocatello, ID, and Jay (Jodi) Nolte of Milwaukee, WI; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lizzie Asmus; husbands Darrell Darnell and Mike Nolte; brother Donald Asmus; sisters Gladys (Herman) Sonksen and Dorothy (Elmer) Reimer; and great-granddaughter Addison Knobbe.
