Linda R. VanGorkom – age 74, of Rolfe, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Linda Rae Heathman was born on April 20, 1949, at her home in Rolfe, Iowa. She was the daughter of Orval and Donna (Nielsen) Heathman. She attended Des Moines Township (DMT) school through 6th grade, graduating from Rolfe Community High School in 1967. She went on to attend Wayne State College where she graduated with a degree in education in 1970. She later received her Masters's Degree in special education from Drake University. Linda spent 30 years as an educator, first teaching 2nd grade in Emmetsburg and then special education in Pocahontas.

On December 28, 1968, Linda was united in marriage to Donald VanGorkom in Rolfe, Iowa. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Michelle and David. Spending time with her children and grandchildren and all the fun trips they took together was something Linda truly enjoyed. She attended every activity in which they were involved in as often as possible and she never missed a birthday. She considered her children and grandchildren life's most precious gifts possible.

Linda was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was involved in various groups and activities including teaching Sunday and bible school, WELCA and Fellowship Committee.

Those left to cherish Linda's memory include her husband, Don of Rolfe; daughter, Michelle (Aaron) Simpson of Chanhassen, MN; son, Dave (Danelle) of Algona; grandchildren, Reese, Maya and Sophie Mireau and Dainen, Drew, Dionna and Danica VanGorkom and sisters-in-law, Nancy Heathman and Peggy VanGorkom.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Denny Heathman; sister-in-law, Annella Fritz and brothers-in-law, Jerry Fritz and Roger VanGorkom.
