Loretta "Letty" McCarthy, age 69, of Laurens, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home in Laurens, Iowa. No services are planned at this time.

Loretta Clare McCarthy was born May 31, 1954 to parents Donald and Leone (Denning) McCarthy. She graduated from the Harlan Community High School in 1973. Letty was a longtime CNA at the Laurens Care Center.

Survivors include her children, Star (Armando) Muniz-Thompson of Spencer, Giles Schooley of Hawaii, Reuben Schooley of Ringsted and Shire Schooley of Everly; grandsons, Marcos, Alex, Cristian, Armando and Oscar; granddaughter, Alice; 2 brothers, 5 sisters and their families, and special friend, Gary Beal. Letty was preceded in death by her parents.
