Lucy A. Herman – age 101, of Pocahontas, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Lucy Agnes Malecek was born on January 31, 1921, in Blomkest, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frank and Milada (Matejka) Malecek. She attended Country Grade School near Blomkest, Minnesota. On March 25, 1940, Lucy was united in marriage to John Herman in Bechyn, Minnesota. The couple settled near Pocahontas where they farmed and raised their family. In 1980, they retired and moved into Pocahontas. In 2003, John passed away and Lucy continued to make her home in Pocahontas.

Lucy was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies Society, the C.D. of A. and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, James (Jan) Herman of Rolfe, John (Dawn) Herman of Pocahontas, William (Karen) Herman of Texas and Daniel (Deb) Herman of Texas; daughters, Mary Ann (William) Ries of Pocahontas, Lois Timmons of Whitney, TX, Lucy Bishop of Pocahontas and Ann Wagner of Gilmore City; many grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Florence Malecek of Minnesota.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son, Bob; brothers, Frank, Charles, James and Edward Malecek, and sisters, Cecelia Kabriel and Josephine Vinar.
