Margery L. Crotty – age 94, of Atlantic, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Margery Lee Bartley was born July 2, 1925, at Laurens, Iowa in the home of her parents, Cecil and Anna (Lundblad) Bartley. She graduated from Laurens High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. After graduating, she taught in Hampton, Iowa, until January 17, 1946, when she married John Desmond "Des" Crotty in San Diego, California. They lived in Norfolk, VA, Camden, NJ, Havelock, IA, South Bend, IN and Indianapolis, IN before making their home in Pocahontas in 1965. Des passed away in 1998. Marge and Des shared the same birthdate. Marge worked at Commercial State Bank in Pocahontas and taught at Pocahontas Catholic School for 6 years before becoming the school's secretary for 12 years, and then volunteered there through age 90. In November 2016, she moved to Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Marge was a member of the Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies Society.

Survivors include her five children, Dan (Nancy Glassberg) Crotty of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Arnold of Scottsdale, AZ, Kathy (Greg) Smith of Atlantic, IA, Patricia Crotty of Cedar Rapids, IA and Maureen (Kevin) Martin of Emerson, NE; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother Burton (Bobbie) Bartley of Leander, TX and brother-in-law, Mike (Merry) Crotty of Havelock.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Desmond; sisters, Lucille Ross and Ella Mae Ebert; brother, Burnett Bartley; son-in-law, David Arnold and great granddaughter, Jocelyn Schaefer.
