Marilyn M. Aden – age 84, of Pocahontas, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Marilyn Marie Johnson was born October 3, 1937, near Pomeroy, Iowa. She was the daughter of Floyd and Lena (Holland) Johnson. She graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1956. During school, she was crowned homecoming queen. She played basketball and came within one game of competing in the state tournament. One of her most memorable moments was when her team beat Pocahontas, and Marilyn scored 32 points. After high school, she attended A.I.B in Des Moines. She worked as secretary to the superintendent at the Pomeroy School. On October 26, 1957, Marilyn was united in marriage to Wayne Aden at the Elfsborg Lutheran Church. The couple settled in the Pomeroy-Palmer area where they farmed and raised their family. Marilyn was a homemaker and enjoyed helping on the family farm. In 2012, Marilyn and Wayne moved into Pocahontas.

Marilyn was a member of Elfsborg Lutheran Church, church council, W.E.L.C.A., K & K Club, and Red Hats, and was a Sunday school teacher and choir member over the years. She enjoyed decorating, baking, driving the lunch wagon, and feeding her boys. She especially loved watching all kinds of sports.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Pocahontas; sons, Brian (Leslie) Aden of Pocahontas, Brent (Susie) Aden of Pomeroy, and Barry (Leah) Aden of Pomeroy; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Luann (Tony) McAdams of Cedar Falls.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Aden; sister, Marlene Miljus, and an infant sister.
