Marilyn E. Dubbert – age 94, of Laurens, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Marilyn Ethel Hawley was born on May 1, 1927, near Ware, Iowa. She was the daughter of Seymour and Ethel (Sargent) Hawley. She attended school in Ware until her senior year when she transferred to Laurens High School, graduating in 1945. She went on to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years. She then taught middle school at Albert City for two years. On June 12, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage to Bob Dubbert at the United Methodist Church in Ware. The couple settled near Laurens where they farmed and raised their family. Bob passed away in 1989.

Marilyn was a member of the United Methodist Church, the U.M.W. and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed baking and cooking and her "coffee pot was always on." She also enjoyed playing the piano. Marilyn loved books and reading and she especially loved her family and the time she was able to spend with them.

Survivors include her daughter, Shari (Gary) Krieger of Omaha, NE; son, Dan (Natalie) Dubbert of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law, Cindy Dubbert of Laurens; grandchildren, Ben (Heidi) Krieger, Luke (Lauren) Krieger, Nick (Allison) Krieger, Bret (Heather) Dubbert, Jason (Brooke) Dubbert, Heather Clark, Brooke Dubbert, Stacy (Patrick) Carlin and Abby (Mark) Krieger; 17 great-grandchildren and two more incoming. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Kevin and siblings, Oie, Jim, Bob and Ken Hawley, Florence Pohlman and infant twins.
