With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Marilyn Jane Sernett Jackson, on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the age of 83. Mom was a pillar of strength, resilience, and unwavering love—a source of inspiration for all who knew her.

Born and raised on a farm in Pocahontas, Iowa, Marilyn was the eldest of five children born to Monica and Robert Sernett. Her early years instilled in her the values of hard work and determination that shaped her life. She is survived by her siblings Diane Spitzley of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Elaine Colee of Pocahontas, and Monsignor Michael Sernett of Pocahontas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Sernett and parents Robert and Monica Sernett.

For over 63 years, Marilyn shared a devoted marriage with our beloved father, Dennis Jackson, until his passing. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family, creating a strong and enduring foundation for their five children: Dan (Marlene) of Naples, Florida; Joy Woods (Ron) of Naples, Florida; Darvin (Jackie) of Naples, Florida; and Kristin Hess (Chris) of Newport Beach, California. Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Lyon, and her husband, Dennis.

Marilyn's legacy extends through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were profoundly shaped by her wisdom, kindness, and boundless love. She was a true matriarch who brought warmth and guidance to everyone she met. Her fierce determination, compassionate spirit, and enduring faith left a lasting impression on her family and community.

Mom, you taught us the value of family, the rewards of hard work, and the enduring power of love. While we will miss you deeply, we take comfort in knowing that you are reunited with Dad and Julie, watching over us with the same care and devotion you gave in life.

Your memory will forever be a beacon of love and strength in our hearts. We love you always.
