Marilyn Kay Nelson – age 86, of West Bend, formerly of Rolfe, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation in West Bend, Iowa.

Marilyn Kay Erickson was born February 3, 1936, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Beryl (Beyer) Erickson. Marilyn graduated from Rolfe High School in 1954. On April 24, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to Lawrence Nelson at the Rolfe Presbyterian Church. The couple lived on an acreage for a short time before moving and settling in Rolfe in 1961, where they raised their family. Marilyn worked as a school secretary for the Rolfe School for 21 years. In 2006, Marilyn and Lawrence moved to Humboldt. In 2016, Lawrence passed away and Marilyn moved to West Bend to be near family.

Marilyn was a past member of the Rolfe Shared Ministry and was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in West Bend. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout Leader, VFW Auxiliary member, where she held several positions, and was a member of the Night Circle at Rolfe Methodist Church. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cooking and baking special things for her children and grandchildren, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Nelson of Ottosen, Terry Nelson of St. Mary's, GA, Bill (Carol) Nelson of Creighton, NE and Mike (Maria) Nelson of Newton; daughter, Connie (Keith) Laubenthal of West Bend; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Brittney) Nelson, Brenda (Kody) Carrigan, Megan Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Brittany (Will) Stevens, Jordan (Chelsea) Laubenthal, Andrea (Joe) Boyle, Krista (Tennesee) Nix, Benjamin Nelson, Nate (Caitlin) Nelson and Samuel Nelson; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Carol) Erickson of Nevada, Ronald (Margie) Erickson of Huntington Beach, CA, Donald (Marge) Erickson of Fountain Valley, CA; sister-in-law, Darlene Madden-McMinnville of Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; sister, Donna (Gary) Smith; brothers, Dale Erickson, daughter-in-law, Marsha Nelson; and twin great-grandsons, Kyler and Kolton Carrigan.
