Marjorie M. Hoffert – age 103, of Pocahontas, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Marjorie Marie Flaherty was born on July 22, 1917, at the family farm near Palmer, Iowa. She was the daughter of Michael and Anna (Jerbek) Flaherty. Marge was educated in a country school near Palmer. On July 29, 1940, Marge was united in marriage to Marlan Hoffert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas. The couple settled in Pocahontas, where Marge worked in the cafeteria at the Pocahontas schools for many years. For the last 10 years, Marge has wintered in Arizona.

Marge was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Ladies Society, Catholic Ladies Foresters and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing cards with the 50/50 Club and Poky Pals. She enjoyed going with Marlan on many fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlene Hoffert of Phoenix, AZ; son, Steve (Karen) Hoffert of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Jenny Hoffert, Amy (Micah) Salter and Brandy (Bret) Tomasek; grandsons, Josh (Amber) Hoffert and Jeremy (Maggie) Hoffert; great-grandsons, Gage Salter, Reid Salter, Graham Hoffert and Henry Hoffert.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlan; son, Michael (Mick) Hoffert; brothers, Leo Flaherty, Cleo Flaherty, Bill Flaherty and Jim Flaherty and sister, Irene Green.
