Marlene M. Hotchkiss – age 84, of Laurens, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Longhouse Care Center in Spencer, Iowa.

Marlene Marie Hanson was born on January 13, 1936, in Albert City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Albert and Freda (Smith) Hanson. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1953. On February 23, 1957, Marlene married Byron Clair Hotchkiss in Laurens, Iowa. They lived in Laurens where Marlene worked as a teller at the Laurens State Bank. She then worked at Jollif and Co. in Laurens as a secretary for many years, retiring in the 1990's.

Marlene was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed spending time sewing and reading and especially loved to bake.

Survivors include her children, Angela Hotchkiss of Old Bridge, NJ and Clair Hotchkiss of Spencer; grandchildren, Justin (Kelsey) Hotchkiss of Terril and Angela Hotchkiss of Spencer and great-grandsons, Treyton and Greyson.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Freda Hanson.
