Marvin J. DeWall – age 81, of Palmer, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.

Marvin Junior DeWall was born on August 14, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Harm and Minnie (Ricklefs) DeWall. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1963. On September 11, 1976, Marvin was united in marriage to Shirley Jessee at Trinity Lutheran Church near Pocahontas. The couple settled on the family farm near Palmer where Marvin farmed.

Marvin was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, V.F.W. and served on the Pocahontas County Fair Board. He enjoyed old tractors, going on tractor rides, car rides and he especially loved farming, talking to people and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Pocahontas; sons, Eric (Lindsey) DeWall of Palmer and Michael (Arleigh) DeWall of Parkersburg, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Eliason, Alice and William; brothers, Robert (Myrna) DeWall of Pocahontas and Herman (Belle) DeWall of Gilmore City.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred and sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Richard Freeburg and Helena and Orville Hockel.
