Marvin L. Ferguson, age 96, of Laurens, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.

Marvin Lee Ferguson was born on March 4, 1927, in Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of Melvin and Hazel (Joenks) Ferguson. Marvin attended country school, then attended the Laurens High School where he played football and graduated in 1944. On November 28, 1947, Marvin was united in marriage to Sally Schuller at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple settled on the farm near Laurens where they farmed, fed cattle and raised their family. Marvin was the 4th generation farmer of the Ferguson Family. His family were the first settlers on farm ground north of Laurens in the year 1882.

Marvin was a member of First Christian Church, where he was very active having held many positions over the years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Consistory of Sioux City and served on the Co-op Board of Directors. Marvin loved to farm, and at 93 years old he was still mowing all three of the farm sights. He also enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include his son, Craig (Terry) Ferguson of Laurens; daughter, Pam Ferguson of Ames; grandchildren, Brooke Ferguson of Dubuque and Chance (Brittni) Ferguson of Laurens; great-grandchildren, Denver, Aspen and Berklee Ferguson, and a sister, Darlene (Jerry) Parr of Denver, CO.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; infant daughter, Carla; brother, Claire Ferguson and sisters, Mavis Ferguson and Phyllis Holben.
