Mary E. Thompson, age 90, of Laurens, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Mary Ellen Richards was born November 25, 1933. She was the daughter of Howard and Lucille (Hammons) Richards. Mary graduated from the Laurens High School in 1952. In 1953, Mary was united in marriage to Keith Thompson in Laurens. The couple settled in Laurens where they raised their family.

Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Laurens where she was active over the years.

Survivors include her son, Don Thompson of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Trisha Doss of Altoona and Nancy Goedert of Laurens; 7 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents, Howard and Lucille Richards; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Susie Thompson; sisters, Carol and Sue; a brother, Jim, and several in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mary's name to the Laurens Swimming Pool and the Laurens Public Library.
