Maxine Dial, age 103 of Carroll, IA, formerly of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Accura HealthCare of Lake City, IA.  Maxine Olive was born on September 3, 1920, to parents George and Alta (Wood) Mantz in Green County, IA.  She grew up in Lanesboro, IA, where she graduated from Lanesboro High School.

On July 28, 1942, Maxine was united in marriage to Merle Dial in Spirit Lake, IA.  The two shared 69 years of marriage together.  This union was blessed with two children: Terry and Ray.  Together they raised their children in Lanesboro. Maxine worked as a cashier and greeter at Kmart in Carroll, IA, for 15 years.  Maxine was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro where she was a member of the UMW.  She enjoyed being in the card club, and Thursday club and golfed with the Golden Girls. Maxine was a talented cook, and baker, and spent lots of her time crocheting and quilting. She always had food available for anyone who would stop by and always had time to talk.  Maxine will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Terry (Camille) Dial of Kansas City, MO, and Ray Dial of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters Vivian McCormick and Freida Toyne.
