Melissa M. Botine - age 63, of Pocahontas, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at her home near Pocahontas, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Melissa Mary Monckton was born on November 30, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of Robert and Gloria (McKenzie) Monckton. Melissa graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1976. She attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio and went on to graduate from Terra State Community College in Fremont, Ohio. Melissa was united in marriage to Greg Botine on May 28, 1988, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple settled on the family farm near Pocahontas. In Pocahontas, Melissa worked at Coast to Coast, the Bob Johnson Agency and then as secretary at St. Peter Lutheran Church. In 2008, she began working as a teller and insurance secretary at the Availa Bank/First Choice Financial.

Melissa was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ladies Circle and the Main Street Stitchers. She enjoyed sewing, reading and quilting.

Survivors include her husband, Greg of Pocahontas; daughter, McKenzie Botine of Pomeroy; mother, Gloria Monckton of Mobile, AL; brothers, Mike (Ann) Monckton of Salinas, CA and Matt (Donna) Monckton of Atlanta, GA; sister, Martha Monckton of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Robert Monckton; brother, Mark Monckton and an infant great-niece, Paige.

In lieu of flowers, Melissa's family requests memorials be made in her name to Fort Dodge UnityPoint-Hospice or Trinity Cancer Center in Fort Dodge.
