Melissa Jane Rahn, age 57, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at her home.

Melissa was born on November 20, 1968, to Raymond and Cheryl Aguiniga in Des Moines, IA. Melissa graduated from Ankeny High School in 1987. On September 16, 1989, Melissa was united in marriage to Bryan Rahn at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Nebraska. The couple began raising a family and settled in Palmer, IA.

While in Palmer, Melissa enjoyed taking her children on bike rides, going to the pool, and spending time at the library. Many of their days also included spending hours outside at the park and playing in the large field across the street from their home.

Melissa enjoyed reading, listening to music, and traveling to see the ocean. Melissa loved being a daycare provider, but her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Bryan of Pocahontas; mother Cheryl Elsberry of Pocahontas; children, Cody (Olivia) Rahn of Cedar Falls, Wyatt (Amanda) Rahn of Pocahontas, Amber (Brock) Hubbell of Mallard, and Garrett (Blake) Rahn of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren, Sophie, Emmie, Charlie, Everly, Myles, Carson, and Casey; brother Raymond (Chad) Aguiniga. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Aguiniga.

Private Family Services will be held. Burial will take place in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery near Palmer, Iowa.
