Michael L. Diischer, age 68, of Pocahontas, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Michael Lee Diischer was born on March 17, 1955, in Alta, Iowa. He was the son of John and Alice (Haight) Diischer. Mike graduated from Alta High School in 1974. He attended Buena Vista College for 2 years before transferring to South Dakota State University where he graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in music. On August 5, 1978, Mike was united in marriage to Charmaine Bruns in Carnarvon, Iowa. Mike worked as a music instructor at various schools over the years, including in Peterson, Blair, NE, Meservy, Rolfe and then Emmetsburg Catholic. In 2003, Mike retired from teaching. He and Charmaine moved to Pocahontas where Mike worked for Groundswell Direct as a Republican Consultant. From 2014 – 2019 Mike worked in Storm Lake at Genesis Development.

Mike was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge and the Republican Party. Over the years, Mike played the organ for many different events and served as church organist for the Shared Ministry and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe and in Pocahontas for St. Peter Lutheran Church. He enjoyed music, golf, playing cards, lawn and garden work and following politics. He was active in Community theater in Emmetsburg for several years and he enjoyed traveling on day and weekend trips to see family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Charmaine of Pocahontas; children, Selena (Jacob) Morgan of Zachary, LA, T. J. Diischer of Pocahontas and Paul (Tiffany) Diischer of Emmetsburg; 3 grandchildren, Stella, Arabelle and Tobias; siblings; John (Ellen) Diischer of Hastings, MN, Brenda Olson of Muncie, IN, Howard (Carmen) Diischer of Storm Lake, Mary (Jeff) Triplett of Hill City, SD and Nancy (Gary) Hartsock of Urbandale and sister-in-law, Lori Diischer of Alta.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clayton Diischer and brother-in-law, John Olson.
