Mike Clancy passed away peacefully in the hospital after his battle with cancer on January 19th, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will begin with a visitation on Friday, January 24th from 4:00-6:00 at Powers Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Iowa.

Saturday, January 25th a prayer service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pomeroy, Iowa at 2:00 with a visitation before the service from 1-2 PM. Burial and Military Rites service in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery directly following the service. A lunch will be held in the church fellowship hall following the graveside services.

Michael Donald Clancy was born on January 17, 1952 to Leo and Geraldine Clancy of Pomeroy, Iowa. He attended Pomeroy Community School and graduated with the class of 1970. Growing up, his teachers would have called him rebellious; his friends would have called him loyal, witty, and determined. He lived for Friday night lights, Saturday evening hoops, and the clink of a golf ball come snowmelt. He was selected all-conference in both basketball and football. Sports became a central theme in his life; never missing an opportunity to coach his kids or throw Super Bowl parties. Proceeding Graduation, Mike served in the army honorably from 1971-1973, then graduated from University of Northern Iowa in 1977 with a BA in Industrial Marketing.

Mike worked as a sales representative for Porter Cable power tools, receiving several awards, and as Vice President and branch manager of Bank Plus. In 1994 he purchased land north of Pomeroy and continued to farm throughout his life, which brought him great pride.

Mike became a proud parent in 1985 to son Ryan Michael, daughter Amanda Faye in 1987, and daughter Jenna Lee in 1991. He adored being a grandfather later in life; spoiling his 6 grandchildren with candy, laughter, and the biggest, loudest, most thrilling toys he could get his hands on every chance he got.

Mike is survived by his children; Ryan (Kellie) Clancy of Saint Peter, MN, Amanda (Cody) Drysdale of Elk River, MN, and Jenna Clancy of Minneapolis, MN. His grandchildren Nora, Emmett, and Audra Clancy, and Ryder, Crosby and Reece Drysdale. His mother, Geraldine (Doyen) Clancy of Pomeroy, Iowa, his sisters, Pat Vial of Oregon, Mary Clancy (Larry Pote) of Coon Rapids, Iowa, sister-in-law Julie Clancy of Halbur, Iowa, and many other nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Clancy and brother Curt Clancy, friend Craig Stuart, and cousin Jim Welander.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family.
