Nancy J. Kopriva – age 88, of Pocahontas, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Arlington Place in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Nancy Joanne McGovern was born on May 7, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of David and Marie (Nielsen) McGovern. Nancy was educated at St. Margaret Catholic High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1951. She went on to the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Elementary Education. Nancy taught kindergarten in Rochester, MN for one year. On September 15, 1956, Nancy was united in marriage to John Kopriva in Minneapolis, MN. The couple settled on the Kopriva family farm near Pocahontas where they farmed and raised their family. Nancy also worked at the Pocahontas Public Library for several years. John passed away in 2009 and Nancy continued to make her home in Pocahontas.

Nancy was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society and C.D. of A. She was very active in her church over the years, singing in the choir, as Lay Minister, Lector and volunteering at the Pocahontas Catholic School. She was also very active in the Pocahontas Community and in politics. Nancy especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Mary Kopriva of Minneapolis, MN, Teresa Kopriva of Chicago, IL, Rebecca DeLine of Avon, CO, John (Angela) Kopriva of Wauwatosa, WI, Martha Downey of Elmhurst, IL, Joe (Michelle) Kopriva of Larkspur, CO and Matt (Vicki) Kopriva of Pocahontas; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Mary Lois Merrick, Dorothy Robertson and Helen McCarthy and brothers, John McGovern, David McGovern and Michael McGovern.
