Neil "Skeeter" Richardson, age 74, of Fonda, formerly of Laurens, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa.
Neil Wilson Richardson was born on July 16, 1952, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was the son of Harold and June (Wiley) Richardson. Neil graduated from Humboldt High School in 1971. On February 16, 1973, Neil was united in marriage to Cindy Froisland in Roelyn. The couple lived in Humboldt where Neil worked for W & H Coop. In the early 1980's, they moved near Pocahontas and Neil worked as a farm hand for Scott Farms. They then moved to Storm Lake where Neil worked for John Deere for nine years. Neil then returned to working on the farm, first for McKenna Farms near Sulphur Springs and in 2012 for Kyle Horner near Varina. Working for Kyle is where Neil was given the nickname, "Skeeter". He loved working on the farm, but had to retire in 2025 due to health reasons.
Neil was a member of the First Christian Church. He loved watching NASCAR and Truck pulling with his son Trinity. He also raced at the Humboldt drag races for 5 years during the late 1970's. Neil especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Lura (Anthony) Richardson of Lohrville, Trinity (Taryn) Richardson of Fort Dodge and Danielle Richardson (Daughter of Kim Hickman) of Rembrandt; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and siblings, Marjorie Harris of Thornton, Nancy Heckathorn of Colorado, Steven Richardson of Kansas City, MO and Brian Richardson of Indiana.
