Norma Rubel age 94 of Laurens, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in the Laurens Cemetery near Laurens.

Norma Jean was born on November 13, 1929, to parents Herman and Irene (Moon) Swigert in Mallard, IA. She grew up around Rush Lake in the Laurens area where she attended and graduated from country school.

On October 31, 1947, she married Clair Rubel in Jackson, MN. The couple started farming in 1952, near Rush Lake. In 1976, they moved to their current farm north of Laurens. This union was blessed with six children: Eugene, Dennis, Joni, Danny, Peggy, and Clair. They raised their family on the farm where Norma enjoyed helping with the dairy cows and chickens. She also enjoyed gardening, embroidering, and listening to country music, and she loved all of her farm cats.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Eugene (Connie) Rubel of Webb, IA, Joni Rubel of Spencer, IA, Peggy Rubel of Omaha, NE, and Clair (Penny) Rubel of Curlew, IA; grandchildren: Angela (Brian) Boots, Denise Terrell (fiancé Brandon), Darci  Rubel (Jeff Potter), Darin Goodchild, LeAnne Womack, Brad (Michelle) Rubel, and Eric (Andrea) Rubel; great-grandchildren: Finley, Adam (fiancé Nikki), Alexa (fiancé Cooper), Alyse, Ellie, Corbyn, Kenzie, Clayton, Matthew, and Bennett.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clair Sr; two sons Dennis and Danny; brother Lee Swigert and sisters Eileen Cranford, Geraldine Cranford, and Lavonne Rogers.
