Norma Jean Seehusen, age 90, of Pocahontas, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Norma Jean was born on October 31, 1932, on a farm in Pocahontas County where she was raised. She was the second of four children born to Con and Louise (Rohlfing) Schnetter. She went to Country School Marshall #8 for four years and then to Varina St. Columbkille's where she graduated from High School in 1951. Following High School, Norma was a secretary for the Pocahontas County Attorney. On January 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Dean Seehusen of Pocahontas. Dean spent two years immediately following their marriage in the Army and Norma spent some time with him until he was honorably discharged in 1954. Following the Service, they settled on a farm in Pocahontas County. To this blessed union, 5 children were born – Larry, Gerald, Connie, Raymond and Denise and one chosen daughter, Shannon.

Norma was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina until it's closing. She was currently a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas. She belonged to the Alter Society, CDA, American Legion Auxiliary (where she held numerous offices including Unit, County and District President), attended the Honor Flight in 2014, Town and Country Quilters, several card clubs, Pocahontas Garden Club and Historical Society. She was a baker and known to many for her beautiful and tasty cakes for any occasion for over 50 years. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her friends and always had the coffee and some freshly baked item waiting.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son, Larry; parents, Con and Louise Schnetter; brothers, Martin and Norbert; sister, Joann; sister-in-laws, Benita and LaDel, and grandson, Greg.

Survivors include her children, Gerald Seehusen – Tracy, Minnesota, Connie (Rod) Lange – Spirit Lake, Iowa, Raymond (Donna) Seehusen – Pocahontas, Iowa, Denise (Kelly) Norland – Okoboji, Iowa, and Shannon (John) Sandy – Arnolds Park, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Shari Motis – Ankeny, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
