Orvil Ray Bedford – age 79, of Pocahontas, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Orvil Ray Bedford was born on January 14, 1942 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Thomas and Bertha (Guinn) Bedford. He graduated from the Stidham High School in Stidham, OK in 1960. Afterward, Ray entered the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Moffit Field in Mountain View, California. Following his discharge in 1964, Ray earned an Associates of Arts degree in Computer Science. On November 17, 1988, Ray was united in marriage to Pauline Sheraskey in Reno, Nevada. He worked for Fleming Foods in Sacramento, CA as a warehouseman for 29 years, retiring in 2000. In July of 2017, Ray and Pauline moved to Pocahontas.

Ray loved to golf, playing whenever he could. He was an active member of the Rancho Cordova Moose Lodge, where he played in their Annual Golf Tournament for over 20 years. Ray was also an avid Raiders football fan.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Bedford of Pocahontas; daughters, Kelly Phillips, Barbara Fleming, and Tracy Kent, all of Sacramento, CA; many grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Sandy) Bedford of Broken Arrow, OK and a sister, Edith Blevens of Tulsa, OK.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Bedford; brothers, Thomas, Roy, Clifford, Jim, and Jacky; and sisters, Johnnie, Betty, Patricia, Joella, Sharon, and Billie.
