R. R oger Richardson – age 80, of Laurens, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Roy Roger Richardson was born January 26, 1941, in Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of Loren and Doris (Bailey) Richardson. Roger graduated from the Laurens High School in 1960, he then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served from 1962 – 1964 and was stationed at SAC AFB with the 9 ^th Bomber wing. On June 20, 1964 Roger was united in marriage to Carolyn Beekman in Pocahontas. The couple lived in Laurens for two years before moving to Waverly where Roger worked in manufacturing. In 1968, they moved to Webster City. Roger worked as an over-the-road truck driver, making many trips to the southern U.S. and to the west coast. Roger retired with over 7 million miles traveled. In 1993, Roger returned to Laurens where he helped care for his mother and did various jobs. On December 28, 2006, Roger was united in married to Rosita Asotique. The couple settled in Laurens.

Roger was a member of the First Christian Church where he served on the board and as a decon and elder. He was Past President of the Laurens Kiwanis, served as commander for a term with the American Legion and served on the Board of the Laurens Retirement Housing. At the age of 60 Roger earned his pilots license, fulfilling a life long dream.

Survivors include his wife, Rosita; three children, Tami Bremer of Webster City, Trevor (DeeDee McBroom) Richardson of Williams and Tracy (Casey Henderson) Richardson of Webster City, 6 grandchildren, Doug Bremer, BJ Bremer, Taylor Bremer, Kelsey Richardson, Lakota Richardson and Kaelyn Richardson and three great-grandchildren, Ella Bremer, Irie Bremer and Merrick Richardson. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Ruth and an infant great-granddaughter, Remi.
