Rebecca Kay Remsburg

Rebecca Kay Remsburg, of Lake City, Iowa, passed away on September 22, 2026. She was born on March 20, 1952, in Panora, Iowa, the daughter of Al and EmaJean Huppert and the little sister of Dan.

Becki graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1970. She grew up playing softball, basketball, and running track for the Panora-Linden Hawks. She also participated in vocal music. It was there that she met her lifelong best friend, Kris Teale.

Following high school, Becki attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville for her undergraduate studies and then Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State University), where she earned her master’s degree in speech pathology.

Becki’s career path led her to the AEA, where she served as a speech pathologist for more than 30 years before retiring in 2009. Through her work at the AEA, Becki met Mike Remsburg. They were married on August 14, 1976, and together had one son, Jonathan Kim. Later, Jon and his wife, Kimberly, gave Becki her three greatest gifts: Reagan, Kamryn, and Kason.

Becki enjoyed gardens, quilts, ice cream, a clean house, books, and, most of all, her grandkids. She also treasured visits with dear friends in Kentucky and Tennessee who became family over the years.

Some of Jon’s favorite memories with his mom include watching sports, golfing, and cheering for the Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed her kitchen specialties, especially her homemade ham balls, deviled eggs, and lasagna. After leaving Lake City to be closer to her grandkids, Becki treasured the one-on-one time she spent with each of them—shopping, getting ice cream, crafting, watching movies, or simply hanging out. A special trip to Disneyland with Grandma Becki is a memory they will always cherish.

Becki faced more than her share of health challenges throughout her life, including Hodgkin lymphoma, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, heart complications, and kidney issues. Through it all, she showed remarkable resilience. Becki passed away peacefully at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, with Jon and Kim by her side.

Becki is survived by her son, Jon (Kimberly), and grandchildren Reagan, Kamryn, and Kason of Huxley; her older brother, Dan Huppert; niece Megan (Aaron) Scheidt and family; and niece Natasha (the late Brent Huppert) and family, all of Colorado. Also mourning Becki’s passing are Phyllis Remsburg of Lake City and the Remsburg family, and many treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her nephew, Brent Huppert; and Mike Remsburg.

The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, Iowa. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery following the Funeral. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa.
