Richard J. Groff – age 81, of Pocahontas, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the Honor Health Thompson Peak Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona after a short, but fierce battle with lung cancer.

Richard Joseph Groff was born on October 18, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Loretta (Kuhl) Groff. He graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1959. On April 23, 1966, Richard was united in marriage to Peggy Imhoff at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple settled in Pocahontas where Dick worked along side his father in operating Groff Plumbing & Heating. In 1986, Dick and Peg moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona where he worked for Russell AC. In 2005, they retired to Pocahontas where they made their home. In retirement they spent their winters in Arizona visiting their kids and grandkids and summers in Pocahontas. Peggy passed away in 2007.

Richard was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a 20 year member of the Pocahontas Fire Department. He refereed many High School football games over the years and passed his love of football on to his kids. He enjoyed golfing, annual fishing trips and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan.

Survivors include his children, Jill (Igor) Noriega of Mesa, Arizona, Michael (fiancée, Patricia) Groff of Flagstaff, AZ and Ann (John) Newman of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Genna, Nicholas, Jocelyn (Cody), Krystine (Chris), Alexander, Joseph and Samuel and great-grandchildren, Maeve, Sage, Eavie, Chase and Tallon; brothers, Arthur (Donna) Groff of Arlington, TX, Peter Groff of Prescott, AZ, Clarence "Chuck" (Mag) Groff of Columbia, S.C and Patrick (Linda) Groff of Omaha, NE.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy and brothers, John and Robert Groff.
