Richard "Dick" Kollbaum, age 87, of Varina, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at his home in Varina, Iowa.

Richard Alvin Kollbaum was born on March 28, 1938, at Ida Grove, Iowa. He was the son of Alvin and Dorothy (Malone) Kollbaum. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Dick was educated in Ida Grove schools and he served in the Iowa National Guard for many years. In 1959 Dick was united in marriage to Marlene Henrichsen in Galva. From this union two sons were born Keith and Korey. They lived in Galva where Dick worked as a farm hand for several years then operated a Standard Oil Station. Dick then worked for K & H Implement doing sales and repair work. In 1971, Dick moved to Storm Lake where operated the Standard Oil tank wagon. In the early 1980's Dick moved to Varina. In 1984, he opened The Machine Shop in Pocahontas. In 1987, Dick was united in marriage to Nancy Anderson in Pocahontas. The couple settled in Varina. In 1996, Korey joined Dick in operating The Machine Shop. Nancy passed away in 2018 and Dick continued to live in Varina.

Dick was a member of the Lutheran Church. He served on the Varina City Council and was past Mayor of Varina. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and spending time at Oars Campground. Dick always enjoyed having conversations with people and visiting with his customers.

Survivors include his son, Korey (Lisa Shima) Kollbaum of Varina; grandchildren, Kira, Trevor and Nicole; brother Jim (Nancy) Kollbaum of Clearwater, MN; step-children, Lonnie Huegerich and Derek Klima and step-siblings, Mark Kamp, Jeri Lundblad and Robin Cowart.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy and son, Keith.
