Richard "Dick" E. Lund – age 80, of Laurens, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Richard Eugene Lund was born on September 24, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Lyle and Helen (Reynolds) Lund. He graduated from Des Moines Township near Rolfe in 1958 where he enjoyed being a part of the basketball team. After high school, Dick attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and worked as a dairy assistant. He entered the Army Reserves in October 1963 training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and MP training at Fort Greeley, Georgia serving for six years. He also worked for Mather Implement for a short time. On July 14, 1962, Dick was united in marriage to Carolyn "Lynn" Cihak in Waverly, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born. The couple lived and farmed near Laurens their entire married life. Dick and Lynn moved to their family's century farm in 2011 when their daughter, Allison, and her family moved back to Laurens to farm with Dick. Lynn passed away in 2014 and Dick continued to make his home on the farm. Dick actively farmed until his passing.

Dick was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he served in many positions including Sunday School teacher and elder. He was a 50-year member of Grace Lodge 519 AF & AM and the Order of the Easter Star. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine, and York Rite. He was a Pocahontas County Soil Conservation Commissioner, Swan Lake Township Trustee, board member of Farmers Cooperative and Cattleman's Association, and spent many years working with the Pocahontas County 4H. Dick enjoyed farming, fishing, playing cards, restoring his Model A (gifted to him from his great-grandpa Taylor Lund), and spending time with his family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone and never knew a stranger.

Survivors include his daughters, Annette (Mike) White of Huntsville, AL and Allison (Eric) Price of Laurens; grandchildren Shannon (Brett) Vondra of Milwaukee, WI, Nathan White(Tara Vincenc) of Knoxville, TN, Alex and Marcus Price of Laurens; siblings Jane (Bill) Lund Cummings of Albuquerque, NM and Gregory (Kathy Marshall) Lund of San Diego, CA; sister-in-laws and brother-in laws; Cathy (Bill) Abbott of West Okoboji; Camilla (Jorgen) Heidemann of Cushing, ME; Dennis (Valerie) Kneller of Farmington, MN; an aunt, Doris Gustafson of Emmetsburg; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lynn.
